Pathfinder Foundation’s Report on “Medium and Long-Term Strategy for Indo-Japanese Collaboration to Support Economic Transformation in Sri Lanka” to be launched in New Delhi August 2023

The Pathfinder Foundation, in collaboration with NatStrat, Vivekananda International Foundation, and the Confederation of Indian Industry, is set to unveil its groundbreaking report, "Medium and Long-term Strategy for Indo-Japanese Collaboration to Support the Economic Transformation of Sri Lanka," on August 10, 2023, in New Delhi. This hybrid event is expected to attract around 200 participants, both physically and virtually. It aims to raise awareness about the report's findings, explore potential investment avenues in Sri Lanka, and engage with Indian stakeholders keen on identifying tangible projects and financing mechanisms in priority sectors.

Led by Chairman Bernard Goonetilleke and Executive Director Dr. Dayaratna Silva, the Pathfinder delegation will join representatives from the Board of Investment and Sustainable Energy Authority of Sri Lanka, as well as Mr. Lalitha Perera from Perwiplast Industries Pvt. Ltd., to present the report and discuss collaboration opportunities.

The report delineates four key areas for collaboration with India and Japan: low-carbon power generation, development of Trincomalee as an energy hub, logistics and connectivity enhancements, and fostering people-to-people contacts. Its launch in New Delhi follows a recent visit by an 18-member Indian delegation to Sri Lanka to explore investment prospects. After touring Jaffna, Mannar, and Trincomalee, the delegation concluded their visit with a briefing session at the Pathfinder Foundation.

The report, available on the Pathfinder Foundation's website, serves as a blueprint for strategic cooperation between Sri Lanka, India, and Japan to catalyze economic transformation and sustainable development in the region.
